Hidden Chestnuts
This hidden chestnut bears fruit! We are blessed because whenever there's a stage even if it's soundcheck...these guys take it one step.....you guessed it...FURTHUR!!!!!!!!!! My favorite band for the last year and a half for sure. I've seen 43 Dead shows(not much i know)also 13 Garcia Band/Duet/Solo shows, 12 Ratdog shows, 2 Dead shows, 1 The Other Ones shows, and a Robert Hunter show or two, and hundreds of others. Furthur at this point is all i need...except for love which i do so there you have it from misty Seattle
Thank You Sweet Lou...great recording with minimal crowd noise...must have been a blast

Finally! My Birthday Show! 36 Years
What can even be said. Magical. Turning 36 with the BOYS! The Eleven Opener took it to the top and it never left. Man. If you went to Further and Furthermore you KNOW what I mean! Changed forever.

Lovely soundcheck
We arrived a bit early and set up camp, if you ever get a chance to go see shows at Calaveras do it, as its a great venue...we wondered out to the stage and there weren't too many people there, maybe 200, stood around and bantered, my buddy and I speculated all the songs that were to be played figuring they weren't on the albums chosen...I figured we were in for some goodness, and a high potential for DarkStar and a few other antics...they came out and ripped it up, Chementi totally instigated the darkstar with a piano tease, and like and good fly-fisherman his presentation was flawless, the band "bit the hook" and away we all went down the rabbit hole.
This weekend had a bunch of standout performances, this night's show was really good, and the allstar jam afterward was really fun. Larry Cambell was on fire, and joined as much music as he could, definitely go check out the furthur dark hollow venue on archive for the jackie n larry show, also if you can find the hard to handle that was done on Sunday with the woman vocalist I think from Phil's son's band, to me that song totally stood out...she can sing!!!
We had a great time...celebrated my 40th birthday, nothing left to do but smile smile smile.

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work and getting these shows on Archive.org. What a wonderful place. Any chance of someone uploading the late night Jam from the first night? That would be wonderful.

Highlight of the weekend!
Thanks so much for posting this excellent recording. For me, this set was the highlight of the weekend. We went expecting to hear maybe 30 minutes of Furthur but we got an amazing 2.5 hour set of great songs and great improvs meandering into one another just the way we love. I took my friend to his first Dead-related show of his life and he is 57. After the opening jam, The Eleven, Eyes, and about 9 minutes into Dark Star, he goes, "Is this a song?" LOL. I said, "Yes, indeed this is a song - it's called Dark Star." Then he asks, "Has this all been one long song?" Again LOL. Had I known what we were in for this evening, I would have insisted he went the next day instead of the "Soundcheck" night so he could have heard the American Beauty set, which was much more cut and dry songs with melodies and such. However, he went for one of the days and that happened to be the Friday night since I figured it would be short. For me and the other people I was with, this set was amazing and oh-so-much better than I had anticipated - it was like a true Deadhead's dream set. I could have left after this Friday night Soundcheck and been a very happy camper. I did stay for the next 2 days but for me, the spirit of the music and the sense of adventure that I get from the Dead and Dead-related shows is all about the spontaneity and not knowing what songs are going to be played. The format of doing the albums from start to finish was kind of anti-climactic, however there were some real standouts on the 6 album sets over the next 2 days. For Blues for Allah I braved the crowd and was right up front for the entire thing. WOW! it was very good and very intense up there. The rest of the sets I sat back on the hill and took in the surroundings, the crowd, and just enjoyed watching, dancing, and listening to this wonderful music and event. For me, it was like traveling back 30 years or longer to the civilized GD shows of the late 70s and early 80s when I first started going to see shows. This current lineup is certainly the best post Jerry lineup that I have seen - so much so that I keep asking myself how I got back on the bus that I thought was LONG GONE!!

The Highlight?
I'm so glad to see this "sound check" finally available. While the "album" shows were awsome for many reasons, this set feels more like a real show. Weaving in and out of Darkstar, and with too many high points to mention, it really was the highlight of a spectacular Furthur Fest.
Thanks for uploading it. Great recording of great music.
